Judging for the annual scholarship competition and 5th Annual Old Dominion University Art Students’ Juried Exhibition will take place this year on Friday, April 13. Scholarships will be selected by the Art Department faculty and the Exhibition juried by Emily Spruill Labows, Director of Cultural Affairs for City of Virginia Beach.
All students are eligible to compete for the student show. Scholarships are only available to students who intend to graduate in December 2012 or later.
To enter the Exhibition and/or Scholarship competition art studio students may bring up to five original works created in the last two years to the Gordon Gallery on the dates and times given below. Also bring a completed application form and a pre-made 4×5 card with name and e-mail clearly printed along with an artist’s statement of no more than 100 words.
Art History students please submit your applications to Robert Wojtowicz electronically by Monday, April 9. Your applications will be reviewed by the art history and studio art faculty with the winner announced with other scholarship awards.
To qualify for consideration for Art History, you must include the following as part of your application:
1. A completed cover sheet (download a PDF here) indicating that you are an Art History major in good academic standing; and
2. A well-researched and well-written paper (complete with bibliography, endnotes, and images) from a course in progress, or a revised and updated research paper from a course taken during an earlier semester.
Students selected for the Exhibition will be posted here at the Art department blog and posted at the gallery during work pick-up times. Scholarship winners will be posted here at the Art department blog later in the semester.
