This is an introductory survey of the basic technical and conceptual parameters of experimental video and the moving image. Although we will often view and site movies and other feature films this is not a class about making standard movies. Our focus will be on the potential for moving images to create more unique and poetic experiences. Many artists have come to video from painting, sculpture and other more traditional media, frequently combining this technology with the sensibility from traditional media to create moving paintings or video poems.
There is no prerequisite but students are required to have some kind of digital video camera and it is highly recommended that they have taken the Fundamentals of Digital Art. Any further questions can be addressed to Peter Eudenbach VAB 140, 757-683-4070
